Dr. Kaila Cruz, DVM
Owner & Medical Director
Dr. Cruz has been immersed in veterinary medicine since 2014, initially as a vet tech, culminating in her graduating with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2022.
She excels in guiding pet owners through important medical decisions and is passionate about education, often sharing her knowledge through teaching.
Her expertise centers on surgery and dermatology, reflecting her deep commitment to these specialized areas.
As a proud former Lieutenant in the Army National Guard, Dr. Cruz, alongside her husband and co-owner, also a member of the Army National Guard, brings a spirit of dedication to our veteran-owned clinic.
Dr. Cruz is a loving stepmom to her amazing bonus daughter, Alena, who is an integral part of our team here at the hospital.
At home, she is a devoted mom to three dogs (Keda, Mike, and Dragon) and three cats (Sausage, Biscuits, and Gravy), named after her favorite breakfast.
In her downtime, Dr. Cruz enjoys outdoor adventures like jeeping and kayaking, as well as exploring the best brunch spots in the valley.
Born in Tucson and raised in Durango, Colorado, Dr. Cruz is an Arizona native who values her chosen team, who are like family to her.
Dr. Jetta Schirmer, DVM
Associate Doctor
Dr. Schirmer is an Arkansas native, born and raised. She attended the University of Arkansas and earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry, with minors in math and biology.
After undergrad, she spent some time working on her master’s degree and teaching chemistry at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock before attending Midwestern University where she completed her doctorate in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Schirmer chose to move to Arizona because her husband is in the Air Force and Luke AFB was so close to her veterinary school. She absolutely loves living here and hope her and her family never have to leave! At home she runs a full house with 3 dogs, a cat, and 2 human children.
Samantha
Clinic Manager
Sam, a graduate from veterinary technician school, not only excels in her field but also made significant personal strides by purchasing her first house at 21.
A true animal advocate, Sam has a special story with each of her pets, including a rescued kitten named Stinky and four courageous dogs who are powering through Valley fever.
With a love for country and rock, Sam sets the tone for fun and relaxation, whether it's enjoying a nice day at the shooting range or unwinding in her backyard with a cold refreshing drink.
A fan of iconic films, her favorite is the original "Top Gun," perfect for movie nights at home with her dogs.
Sam’s great sense of humor and love for animals make her a dynamic leader, always ready to energize her team and provide excellent care.
As our manager, Sam's leadership and compassion shine through in everything she does, making her an invaluable part of the Complete Pet Animal Hospital family.
Aaron
Owner & Operations Manager
Born and raised in Arizona, Aaron is deeply connected to his family roots in the state. Dedicated husband and father to our doctor in training, Alena! Before his time with us Aaron was a Police K9 handler and has served 13 years in the Arizona Army National Guard.
Aaron channels his passion for helping others through his roles as the owner and CEO of BGS Vets and Chief Operating Officer of the Vets for Vets nonprofit organization, providing veterinary services to veterans.
When he's not working, Aaron loves off-roading, country dancing, and listening to music. He also enjoys traveling whenever he gets the chance. He is also an avid Harley enthusiast
Monica
Client Services Manager
As a proud Arizona native, Monica always had a love for adventure and the great outdoors. Whether it’s going to concerts, camping under the stars, or spending sunny days at the lake, Monica is all about soaking up nature’s beauty!
She is the proud dog mama of two adorable fur babies, Taz and Lola. Her heart also holds a special place for my angel baby Lyla, who is always with me in spirit . She recently got engaged to my best friend, and couldn’t be happier as she embarks on this new journey!
When Monica is not busy helping our furry patients at Complete Pet Animal Hospital, you can find her indulging in my favorite snacks—Hot Cheetos and Coca Colas. Yum! She’s been in the vet med field for over 2 years now, and absolutely loves being able to assist and care for your pets every day!
She may joke about liking long walks on the beach, but her real passion lies in making sure every pet that comes through our doors feels loved and cared for. Here’s to many more years of wagging tails and happy purrs!
Bri
Certified Veterinary Technician
Bri has been a certified vet technician since 2021, bringing her vast knowledge and a genuine passion for animal care to our team. She specializes in handling urgent and emergency situations with expertise and compassion.
A lover of all creatures big and small, Bri has a special place in her heart for Huskies and Chihuahuas. Not to mention, she shares her home with a charming bearded dragon!
Bri's love for Halloween and scary movies makes every day an adventure at the hospital. Her favorite flicks? "Beetlejuice" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas"!
Known for rocking her Crocs, Bri embodies comfort and practicality, which is perfect for her active role.
Originally from Florida, Bri moved to Arizona at the age of 9 and has been a vibrant part of our community ever since. She loves spending quality time with her family and all her adorable "babies."
Abby
Veterinary Technician
Abby brings nearly 4 years of veterinary experience to our practice, enhanced by her previous background in grooming. She thrives in surgery and emergency settings, skillfully caring for our patients with her in-depth knowledge and compassionate touch.
As a proud mom to a vibrant 6-year-old, Abby cherishes every moment spent together, whether they’re painting, jumping on the trampoline, or enjoying the outdoors at the pool or lake.
Abby is also a devoted cat mom to two adorable kitties, Linky and Pickle Rick, adding lots of fun and cuddles to her busy life.
Originally from Iowa, Abby made Arizona her home in 2006 and has been a beloved part of our local community ever since.
Dr. Jared Jaffey, DVM, MS, DACVIM
Internal Medicine
However, not full time with the TCP team, Dr. Jared Jaffey, DVM, MS, DACVIM, is our rockstar board-certified small animal internist and Assistant Professor at the Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine.
He is from South Florida and attended the University of Florida for undergraduate studies. Dr. Jaffey enjoyed Gainesville so much (Go Gators!) that he stayed in town to attend veterinary school, where he graduated in 2012.
Next, he moved across the country to East Bay, California, where he completed a private practice rotating internship. Dr. Jaffey then moved back to South Florida, completed two internal medicine specialty internships, and obtained a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Florida Atlantic University.
Dr. Jaffey then completed a three-year residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Missouri in 2018 and has been been a part of the Midwestern University team since! We are thrilled to have Dr. Jaffey onboard as he brings a wealth of knowledge to the TCP care team!
Alena
Doctor in Training
Meet Alena, a wonderful assistant at Complete Pet Animal Hospital, known for her boundless energy and readiness to help anyone in need. Alongside her role here, Alena has been an enthusiastic volleyball player for 2-3 years and has cheered since kindergarten, infusing our team with her vibrant team spirit.
When she's not assisting in the clinic, Alena loves to cook and engages in crafting and painting, exploring her creative passions. Living on a farm, she’s no stranger to hard work and enjoys the daily adventures it offers.
As a big sister to three, her family is her world. Alena's favorite color is yellow, symbolizing her bright, optimistic outlook. Despite being a picky eater, she always finds joy in her meals.
A lover of swimming, Alena embodies a lifestyle full of activity and fun. She is always the first to jump up and lend a hand, bringing positivity and dedication to our hospital.
Hannah
Client Services Representative
Hannah served proudly as a Military Police Officer in the Arizona Army National Guard from the age of 17 to 24, demonstrating her commitment to duty and service to her country.
During her tenure, she excelled in managing social media and marketing efforts for the Recruiting and Retention Battalion, showcasing her strategic skills and dedication to mission success.
At home, Hannah's heart belongs to Kahlua, her beloved pup who brings endless joy and companionship into her life.
Always eager to learn and grow, Hannah is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Education at GCU, driven by her passion for teaching and making a positive impact in the community.
In her free time, Hannah finds solace in weightlifting at the gym, where she pushes herself to new heights of strength and determination. She enjoys nothing more than playful fetch sessions with Kahlua, finding inspiration and peace in her Bible readings, and soaking up the Arizona sunshine poolside on relaxing days.
Layce
Veterinary Technician
Layce brings a unique blend of warmth and expertise to her role as a veterinary technician, with a heartfelt dedication to every furry patient she encounters. With three years in veterinary medicine and a prior six-year career in human medicine, her depth of experience is truly invaluable.
Originally from Los Angeles, Layce now embraces the beauty of Buckeye, AZ, where she loves exploring the outdoors with her family. Layce is a devoted mother to two beautiful children and a proud fur momma to three dogs—Mercy, Mercedes, and Deegan—and two cats, Claire Bear and Chucky. Her home is a bustling hub of love and laughter.
Layce and her wonderful husband, high school sweethearts who have been married for almost three years, share a passion for the great outdoors. Whether it's a day spent at the lake or riding dirt bikes, they cherish every moment of adventure together.
