Digital Dental Radiograghy:

To the left is our Digital Dental X-ray Unit.  We use this piece of equipment when we need to see what is going on under the gum line in your pet's mouth.  The x-ray beam is projected from the x-ray unit (Left), through the tooth and onto a film that is then processed in the machine to the right.  The image is transferred to an program on the computer and the Doctor reviews the x-rays to determine if there are any abnormalities in the teeth.

In order to take a dental x-ray, your pet needs to be under anesthesia (as we cannot explain to them that they need to be perfectly still).  In the photo to the bottom right, a squeaker toy demonstrates what goes on during a dental x-ray.  The animal is hooked up to an anesthesia machine and is closely monitored using surgical monitoring devices.  The teeth are then cleaned using our dental cleaning unit with the ultrasonic scaler and polisher.
